In Ontario you may be required to obtain a Minister of  Finance Ontario appraisal commonly called MTO appraisal for the purpose of establishing a value to pay taxes on your used vehicle.  You may also wish to do this if you have purchased a damaged vehicle that is considerably below average value to save paying taxes based on the average market in the Government database.
